SHORT FILM: 6 MINS | Justin Auciello grew up in Seaside Park loving the ocean, beach and surfing. But, that wasn't the only thing he loved. The minute he heard fire alarms go off, he'd hop on his bike and chase fire trucks because he "always wanted to be in the know," sharing information with others in his community. Turns out the digital revolution came along just in time for Justin to catch that BIG wave, too. Shortly prior to Hurricane Irene in 2011, Justin decided to wield the power of social media and created Jersey Shore Hurricane News, a platform on Facebook that encourages citizens to participate in "two-way" local and state news distribution. He's still riding the wave of "real-time" news sharing and crowdsourcing with over 217,000 likes and growing.
